ECA QuakeSmart “Secure Your Space” Online Workshop
Join us on January 27, 2021, 10-11:30am for an online workshop about how to mitigate damage and injuries by securing furniture, TVs, appliances, and other objects that can fall or fly during earthquakes.
This workshop will provide basic understanding and skills for how to secure your own spaces (home or work) and help neighbors, friends, and family secure their spaces too. The workshop is free and attendees will receive furniture straps and other materials (valued at $50) from ECA partners Safe-T-Proof and Ready America after completing the workshop and passing its quiz.
Applications for being selected for this workshop were due by January 13, and are now being reviewed. We will notify everyone of their status by January 21.
NOTE: This is a pilot workshop and space is limited. Depending on response, we may offer the workshop several times, and later workshops may cover advanced aspects (such as how to secure less common objects and equipment).
Securing our “Space” is one component of the FEMA QuakeSmart Community Resilience Program for organizations to improve resilience and overall planning. The QuakeSmart Toolkit includes guidance and worksheets for tracking actions across several components including Staff, Space, Systems, Structure, and Service.
