Community Engagement Webinar #6
April 18 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am
Free
Prepare U is a model that has been used since 2019, in the San Francisco Bay Area (focusing on the East Bay) to present preparedness trainings in a unified and connected way to community-based organizations and members of the community.
It has proven to be quite successful at the original goal of presenting topics, which have previously been presented independently and “floating”, in a connected and unified way, recognizing the important connections between the various “circles of preparedness.” Prepare U it has also has demonstrated itself as being scalable, adaptable, and flexible. It can be presented various times and frequencies, for a variety of audiences, and a range of topics.
Lars Eric Holm, Disaster Preparedness Coordinator for Eden I&R / 211 Alameda County — and also chair of ALCO VOAD (Alameda County Voluntary Organizations Active In Disaster) — and Ron Halog, Emergency Preparedness Coordinator for Independent Living Resources of Solano & Contra Costa Counties (ILRSCC) — and also vice-chair of ALCO VOAD (Alameda County Voluntary Organizations Active In Disaster) — presented about how “Prepare U” came to be, how it has been adapted for different audiences, and how it might be adapted to be used anywhere.
